After Councilman Alex Miller (D) resigned last year, the Democratic majority of the Town Board appointed Lynn Archer to serve for one year. In November 2008, the Town of Rochester will hold an election for the vacant seat. The elected councilperson will serve the remaining year of Alex Miller's original term.

On June 30, at the Republican Club meeting, VP and Acting President Tricia Kortright became the first candidate to announce the run for the vacant seat on the Rochester Town Board.
This past Election, Tricia was the Campaign Manager for the successful slate of candidates endorsed by the Republicans, Conservatives, and United Rochester. She also proved herself to be a mean fund-raiser at Family Fun Day at SkateTime 209 and Jennie Bell Pie Festival events.
Here are her own words: "I hope that all of my hard work speaks for itself and that I can count on each of you for your support."
