It was brought to our attention something which we found hard to believe. We checked the tip, and it checked out...
Zaly Win, the Chairman of the Rochester Democratic Party, publishes on his website the slates of candidates for coming elections. While the Democratic slate is headlined "The Town of Rochester Democratic Committee is pleased to announce the results of its nominating caucus held on September 23, 2007," the Republican slate is introduced under "Republican Candidates Announced." All this on a website claiming to be non-partisan... But, hey! It's on his dime, so he has the right to express freely how he feels.
Next, Zali Win lists the complete slate of Democratic candidates, folowed by endorsements. So far, so good, but then the dirty game begins... Zali Win lists the Republican slate omitting the name of Carl Chipman — the candidate running for Town Supervisor, and the endorsement of the slate by a third Party (United Rochester). Click here to see for yourself.
Why is Zali Win afraid of Carl Chipman and United Rochester?
