Cultural Marxism There are two misconceptions held by many Americans. The first is that communism ceased to be a threat when the Soviet Union imploded. The second is that the New Left of the Sixties collapsed and disappeared as well.
What the competent citizen wants, in contrast to the modern liberal, is a coherent and dependable structure for ordered liberty, secured by a limited government that respects the autonomy and sovereignty of the individual and protects his property rights against the constant invasions of collectivism.

Zali Win pulls the strings of "open government"

Hello,
I'm writing to support Steve Fomal's candidacy for the open position on the Planning Board and to suggest that you name him the chairman of that board.
I've worked closely with Steve for more than six years on issues relating to zoning and the oversight of the former
Republican majority on all our towns boards (Town Board, ZBA, PB). There is no one in town who knows zoning
law better than Steve and as he was our principal videotaper for PB, ZBA, and TB meetings for three years, he's
probably attended more meetings of town government than anyone. He has seen first hand the various ways that
some of these boards have misconstrued or ignored the Code of the Town of Rochester, State laws, and normal
rules of procedure to the benefit of the committee people and their friends.
For the past ten years, Steve has helped as an informal advisor to a number of people who have been victimized
by the non-enforcement of our town's zoning laws. He worked on the permit appeal process before the DEC of
the Rock Mountain Estates mine (Metro Recycling) in the middle of a residential neighborhood on Queens
Highway and numerous other noxious business ventures. I know that Steve is and will continue to be fair in his
interpretation of the law as a member and hopefully chair of the Planning Board.
The next year or two will be an important irrevocable transitional period for our town. It's important to have a
knowledgeable and well-qualified voice on the Board who is not susceptible to intimidation from Dave O'Halloran's
crowd. Of the candidates under consideration (and the members on the Board), Steve is the one most able to
resist any such pressure. There is also the great possibility that if Steve is named Chair that two current
members will resign (Gaydos and Striano, perhaps even Ricks), allowing you to appoint other reasonable and fair
contenders (such as DeGraw).
Steve's got a lot of popular support in the community as demonstrated in his surprisingly good showing in the
town board elections two years ago, when he nearly got elected.
I hope you'll give Steve the full consideration that his experience and long history of community service deserves.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Zali

A case of censorship?
...Councilman Alex Miller should apologize to Mr. Jon Dogar-Marinesco for his inappropriate actions. Mr. Miller should also appologize to his fellow Board Members for placing them in jeopardy...
I would like to share some of an "insider's" thoughts and feelings regarding the beautiful event held in Accord on October 7, 2006. Feelings of sheer joy and accomplishment.
For those of us who have been involved for months in the preparation of the Heritage Day, the success of this event had a special value: it proved that people in our town can work together. It also showed us, organizers and participants alike, what we can do when we all act as residents, not presidents, chairs or supervisors... — Manuela Mihailescu
I own a small business in Kerhonkson and I am concerned about the comprehensive plan that is going to be voted on soon. I feel that I have to send this without my name because I am afraid of what might happen...
The Town Board approved two persons to work with Francis Gray on
the Business Recruitment Committee: Toni Sindone and Joan Atwood. Everybody knows Toni. But who is Joan Atwood? Read the letter of protest she sent to the Planning Board and get to know what she thinks about the future of business in our town.

Rochester GOP "leader" should quit
Applause and kudos for Marijane Knudsen; as a community resident, her involvement with the Democratic Town Board in Rochester is commendable. However, as Chairman of the Town of Rochester Republican Committee she is doing a disservice to her political party. Actively participating and supporting all of the recent Democratic initiatives is equivalent to abandoning ship. The Rochester Republicans lost the last election. Now is the time to re-build and prepare for the next Election, not help the Democrats push thru their "vision" of Rochester. The Democratic majority does not need the support of the Republican Committee to advance their goals. The current Town Board enjoys a 4 to 1 Democratic majority.
The July 13 letter to the editor "We are public servants" by Marijane Knudsen in support of the Republican Steve Fornal makes reference to "Republican values" and "belief in our flag." Ms. Knudsen makes this statement being well aware that Steve Fornal is no longer a registered Republican and that he refuses to participate in the Pledge to the Flag, even as the appointed Chairman of the Planning Board.
In the same letter she refers to "disruptive behavior" by individuals during Town Board public hearings. Those disruptive individuals are Republicans fighting to protect their property rights, fighting to lower taxes, fighting to keep Rochester a place where you can live and work, not just a bedroom community. Those disruptive individuals are her constituents as Chairman of the Rochester Republican Committee. She is right, Rochester is "changing fast" and we need a Republican leader to represent our values, not jump ship and join the Democrats. As Chairman of Rochester Republicans she should be the most partisan person in Town! Ms. Knudsen must stop publicly endorsing non-Republicans (Steve Fornal) and non-Republican agendas. She was elected as Republican Chairman to work for what's best for Republicans, not for all residents. If she wants to be a public servant, let her run for office. Although she would never get the votes in a Republican caucus, there are always the Democrats.
Ms. Knudsen has presided as Chairman of Rochester Republican Committee for more than twenty years. Under her "leadership" our Town Board has gone from a 5 to 0 Republican majority to a 1 to 4 minority. If this were Yankee Baseball, the manager would have been the first to go! Ms. Knudsen needs to step down as Republican Committee Chairman and continue to devote her energy — on a non-partisan basis — to the Town of Rochester.
