Dear Hon. Chipman,
It is my pleasure to inform you that your own Town Clerk/Tax Collector Veronica Sommer has been elected First Vice President of the New York State Association of Tax Receivers & Collectors at their annual Tax Seminar held June 8-11, 2008 at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, NY.
The Association represents over 794 Villages, Towns, and School Tax Receivers and Collectors. The mission of the Association is continuing education of Receivers and Collectors, update on new and proposed legislation, and to help maintain the highest level of service and professionalism.
As you know, Ronnie was the founder and first President of the Ulster County Town Clerks and Tax Collectors Association in 1988. Ronnie was Town Clerk of the Year in 1998, chosen by her fellow town clerks and collectors.
I hope you will share this information with your fellow Town Board and your local newspapers. Thanking you in advance,
Peg Nau

Pam Duke puts her house up for sale

After the votes were counted this past November, the Town of Rochester was hit by a wave of resignations...
Gone is the ethics-shmethics committee shmember Alan Bendelius.
Gone back to Rosendale is Daniel Baker, the assesor... Remember him? He was hired in October 2007 because Sharon Hornbeck wouldn't guarantee keeping the job for 6 more years... Gone is Steve Fornal, lesser known as Steve Lance, an author... When your book soars to #1,744,859 on Amazon.com, you don't waste your time on a plain Planning Board membership, do you? Gone is the former comedian Alex Miller... Minority Councilman didn't sound pompous enough for him. So much for "working together"...
On January 18, ex-Supervisor Pam Duke finally did something "for the common good." She put her house up for sale. Considering the beautiful cemetery view, the asking price of $649,000 seems very, very low.
